Hybrid or mono nanofluids for convective heat transfer applications. A critical review of experimental research

نویسندگان

چکیده

Research on nanofluids has increased markedly in the last two decades. Initial attention focused conventional or mono nanofluids, dispersions of one type solid nano-sized particles a base fluid. Despite various challenges such as dispersion stability pumping power, have become improved working fluids for energy applications. Among them, convective heat transfer been main research topic since very beginning. Hybrid more different nanoadditives mixture composite form, received recently. hybrid aims to further enhance individual benefits each single through potential synergistic effects between nanomaterials. Multiple experimental studies conducted independently analysing performance single-phase and two-phase However, there are still no general conclusions about which hybrid, present better prospects. This review summarizes that jointly analyse both these applications results classified according device used. Based this criterion, three large groups devices were noticed (tubular exchangers, plate exchangers minichannel exchangers/heat sinks), while group was identified (heat pipes). The outcomes summarized critically analysed draw from an application point view.

Nanofluids for Heat Transfer Enhancement – A Review

A nanofluid is a dilute liquid suspension of particles with at least one critical dimension smaller than ~100 nm. Research works so far suggest that nanofluids offer excellent heat transfer enhancement over conventional base fluids. The enhancement depends on several factors such as particle shape, particle size distribution, volume fraction of nanoparticles, temperature, pH, and thermal conduc...

A comprehensive review of experimental investigations of forced convective heat transfer characteristics for various nanofluids

Nanofluids are suspension of nanoparticles (less than 100 nm) in the conventional base fluids. The dispersed solid metallic or non-metallic nanoparticles change the thermal properties like thermal conductivity, viscosity, specific heat, and density of the base fluid. Past studies focused on measuring the thermal properties of nanofluids. These suspended nanoparticles effectively improve the tra...

Nanofluids Preparation and Stability for Heat Transfer Applications – A Review

Miniaturized and highly efficient thermal systems represent the current requirements of the automobile, industrial as well as residential cooling and heating systems. But the performance of the modern thermal systems is primarily limited by the lower conductivity of the fluids being used in these systems. As a result of research and technology advancements, the concept of Nanofluids was introdu...

Experimental study of convective heat transfer coefficient of MgO nanofluid in a cylindrical microchannel heat sink

Convective heat transfer of MgO-water nanofluid in a microchannel heat sink is experimentally investigated in various concentrations of 0.01, 0.05, 0.1, and 0.6 wt%. The microchannel consisted of 48 parallel rectangular cross section channels with the height of 800 µm, width of 524 µm and length of 52 mm. A well stability duration (ca. 1 month) was resulted by a 180 min ultra-sonication of the ...
